Conference Awards

  • The Unicaja Award (€1,000) to the most outstanding paper presented at the 2016 Conference was given to the paper “The trade-off between compensation contracts and debt covenants in financial contracting,” coauthored by Bill Francis, Iftekhar Hasan, Qi Liu, Majdi Quttainah, and Xian Sun.
  • The University of Malaga Young Researcher Award (€500) to be best paper presented by a PhD student at the 2016 Conference was given to the paper “Creditor rights, systemic risk and bank regulations: Evidence from a cross-country study,” coauthored by Christian Haddad, and Frederic Lobez.
  • The Portsmouth Business School Award (€500) to the best paper in banking presented at the 2016 Conference was given to “Sorry, we’re closed: Loan conditions when due to branch closure firms transfer to another bank,” coauthored by Diana Bonfim, Gil Nogueira, and Steven Ongena.
